The PHA must have an action plan by the end of January

The largest public housing agency (PHA) in the United States has been in serious trouble with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for providing subpar housing --- and now there‚Äôs a deadline for a thorough plan of action.

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is on a strict timeline to correct massive and serious problems in its housing. HUD sent a letter to NYCHA on Dec. 14, 2018, demanding that the PHA come up with an action plan to resolve longstanding issues with management, lead, mold, heat, elevators, and vermin by Jan. 31, 2019.
