Learn These “Side Points” to Stay on the Right Side of HUD!

Working with HUD can be demanding for owners and agents. You must be compliant with their demanding regulations if you want to keep working with them. That means knowing the “side points” to handling a waiting list after you’ve created one. Not knowing these “side points” and nuances can affect your compliance review, make it difficult for you to implement policies and procedures, and lead to fair housing issues as well.

Find out what it takes to remain compliant with HUD’s regulations and keep working with them in this webinar by industry expert Debbie Hixon. Hixon will show you how to select applicants from the waiting list in the required order set by HUD rules and owner policies, as well as how to implement screening reviews for credit history, rental history, criminal activity, etc. She will explain the new understanding of how arrest records factor into decisions to accept an applicant as a resident (Notice H 2015-10), and bring you up to speed with HUD’s current guidance for dealing with families experiencing homelessness. Hixon will walk you through two examples of income targeting methods, and show you how to allow an otherwise ineligible applicant to be reconsidered for tenancy. You will also learn which DHS appeal-related documents must be retained for at least five years, and what exactly is involved in noncitizen denials.

After attending this session, you will know the correct way to handle your waiting lists (after you’ve created them) according to HUD guidelines. Plus, you’ll be better equipped to implement policies and procedures, and get clean compliance reviews.
