FHA is 45! Are you compliant?

Register now for this 75-minute webinar in which our expert speaker, Elaine Simpson, will outline how to create a compliant Affirmative Fair Housing Plan that you can effectively implement at the site level.

Passed in 1968, the Fair Housing Act promises to ensure equal housing opportunities for all. Forty five years later, we’re still working toward that goal. Two recent HUD studies showed that subtle racial discrimination against renters still persists—and that adverse treatment of homosexual renters is even more blatant. HUD is serious about fighting housing discrimination. Don’t get caught in the crosshairs.

Learn to create an Affirmative Fair Housing Plan that clearly explains to HUD how you’ll market your properties to persons less likely to apply for housing in a metropolitan statistical area. And celebrate 45 years of the Fair Housing Act by drafting a plan that’s sure to get approved!

This workshop will explain the what, why, and how of Affirmative Fair Housing Plans:

  • Why do I need an Affirmative Fair Housing Plan?
  • What is a “target marketing population designated as least likely to apply”?
  • What factors should I consider when determining my Minority Group?
  • How do I plan my marketing to reach my Minority Group?
  • What am I committing to when I submit my Affirmative Fair Housing Plan?
  • How do I document that we are working on our Affirmative Fair Housing Plan?

This presentation is appropriate for all housing professionals—from developers to owners, management agents, and site staff.

After attending this webinar, you’ll understand how to locate sources for vital statistical data, make sense of your market demographics, and identify those less likely to apply for residency in your community. Plus, you’ll get step-by-step instruction for completing the necessary HUD forms. Participants will complete a sample plan application, which you’ll be able to use as a template next time you must submit a new or updated a plan.
